R5 Productions Weekly Update

Hellos!

We are going to start sending these out every Monday (err..well  in this case Tuesday oops) to let you know
who is coming through for the upcoming week. It starts tonight with the 60/70s americana folk sounds of BLITZEN TRAPPER at The Trocadero Theater. We’ll be honest it isn’t selling as well as we thought it would – so we are now offering TWO FOR ONE
tickets (online only). Just click the link and then enter the promo
code "TUESDAY". Don’t sleep!  You can’t beat two for one tickets. CHEAP
DATE !

Tomorrow (Wednesday) we have the Irish born rock-a-billy/blue singer IMELDA MAY.
We know that sounds weird and quite possibly terrible – but give her
myspace page a listen. No accent, authentic sounds and vocals w/ pure
fire coming out of her! On Thursday we have our "pick of the week" as
longtime R5 husband and wife pop favorites MATES OF STATE play with the new awesome internet super hyped SUCKERS with a special appearance / opening set by stand up comedian / worlds funniest man TODD BARRY (you
may have seen him perform at the church previous guests with Yo La
Tengo). That’s a stacked show! All three are playing at The Church.
Across town that same night at Johnny Brendas that evening we have
Philly’s own PISSED JEANS and Australia’s EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING (who totally destroy live – go see them punks!)

On Friday JOSIAH WOLF aka the other half of the band "WHY?" plays with CHOCOLATE HORSE and Philly’s STEVE GOLDBERG & THE ARCH ENEMIES at Kungfu Necktie. Saturday we have a special early evening reunion show for NYC’s infamous melodic hardcpore/punk band – GREY AREA along with LIGHTEN UP and NJ’s STATIC RADIO.
Only about 50 tickets remain for that show! We have another two shows
in Fishtown that same night – we’ll get our dancey pants on with GOLDEN FILTER and HUNDREDS IN THE HANDS
(who just signed to Warp) at Kungfu Necktie. But if singer/songwriter
stuff is more your vibe then head over to Johnny Brendas for DAMIEN JURADO
who’s playing with a full backing band. Heads up : the Damien Jurardo
show starts earlier than most shows at JBs (7pm). We wrap up the week
on Sunday when we welcome California’s weirdo hardcore kings CEREMONY to The Barbary.

Full newsletter out tomorrow or Thursday with a list of bands coming up
for the fall, our final additions to the summer calendar, lots of
making time info and of course previews for the above mentioned shows !
