Asperilla Mint is an underground rock project. Guitarist Kevin Timothy and vocalist Mark Blacknell founded it in the summer of 1996 in the Philadelphia and Marcus Hook/Linwood area of Pennsylvania.
The tapes
U-Rock®'s band record says the music comes from cassette-era sessions made in Linwood during 1996 and 1997. It describes the sound as atmospheric, introspective and experimental, mixing classic rock and roll, blues and lo-fi textures. The archive includes The Inward Mint and the ten-track Studio Sessions, with songs such as "I'm So Small," "San Francisco Part 1" and "Glenn Jam."
The catalog
U-Rock® Records lists The Inward Mint (URR-26-ASP-001-LP) as "experimental rock as specimen" and The Studio Sessions (URR-26-ASP-002-LP) as "raw, unpolished, and intentional." The catalog also includes Loss Of Another (URR-26-ASP-003-LP), "an Asperilla Mint EP on grief and erosion," as well as The Best We Were Able To Do and a special edition, Asperilla Mint (SE).
