Spinfire

According to Wikipedia, Taubenfeld taught himself guitar at 14 by learning Nirvana's "Come As You Are." Three years later he formed Spinfire with his friend Matt Halpern. The band played festivals and shows in the Baltimore area, and wrote and produced songs including "Feeling Beautiful," "Lettin' It Be" and "Waiting."

With Avril

After Arista's Josh Sarubin heard his demo, Taubenfeld auditioned for the band of "a young Canadian named Avril Lavigne," and joined in 2002. He earned music credits on "Don't Tell Me," "Take Me Away" and "Freak Out" on Under My Skin, and four songs on The Best Damn Thing, including "Hot." His solo album, Welcome to the Blacklist Club, came out in 2010. His 2009 Christmas single, "Merry Swiftmas (Even Though I Celebrate Chanukah)," reached No. 59 on the Hot Country Songs chart.
