Gang of Four are an English post-punk band, formed in Leeds in 1976. U-Rock® has logged 1,768 plays of "She Said," which appears on the album as "She Said 'You Made a Thing of Me.'"

Punk, funk and dub

According to Wikipedia, the original members were singer Jon King, guitarist Andy Gill, drummer Hugo Burnham and bassist Dave Allen. They play "a stripped-down mix of punk rock, funk and dub," with lyrics focused on social and political problems, and are widely seen as one of the leading bands of late-'70s and early-'80s post-punk. Rolling Stone ranked their debut, Entertainment!, among the greatest punk albums of all time. Gill toured under the band name from 2012 until his death in 2020. King and Burnham later reunited, and their 2025 "Long Goodbye" tour was announced as their final headlining tour of the US and Europe.

Content

"She Said 'You Made a Thing of Me'" opens Content, the band's seventh studio album, released in January 2011 on Grönland in Europe and Yep Roc in the US. Gill and King wrote it, and it was recorded at Gill's London studio. Content was the last Gang of Four album with Jon King. The photo shows King and Gill at the Metro in Chicago in February 2011.
