Liily are a Los Angeles rock band formed in 2015. According to Wikipedia, their music has been described as "alternative rock, with elements of post-punk and dance-punk." Three Liily songs are on U-Rock®'s WURN-dB Underground playlist: "Toro," "I Can Fool Anybody in This Town" and "The Weather."
Music school friends
Wikipedia says the band met at music school. The line-up is frontman Dylan Nash, guitarist Sam De La Torre, bassist Charlie Anastasis and drummer Maxx Morando, who previously drummed in The Regrettes.
"Toro" and the first EP
Liily released their debut single, "Toro," on Flush Records in 2018. The EP I Can Fool Anybody in This Town followed in 2019. Wikipedia records that the band then toured the United States and Europe and played Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo. In March 2019 they played SXSW in Austin, where photographer Paul Hudson shot the photo used here.
TV or Not TV
Liily started on the follow-up as soon as the EP was out. According to Wikipedia, much of it was written in Joshua Tree National Park in January 2020. When COVID-19 lockdowns started, the members kept working on their own. The album, TV or Not TV, came out on Flush Records in 2021 and was produced by Joe Chiccarelli. Wikipedia says it marked a shift to "a more intense, electronic influenced sound."
In 2022 Liily played Miley's New Year's Eve Party, and in 2023 they toured with Fidlar. A self-titled EP followed in 2024.
