Stunning Rayguns make their first album a dense, seven-track statement

Astoria duo Ren Allen and Raymond Martin recorded ‘Novalunosis’ with Ken Stringfellow at MARS & CIRCUIT MAKERS
Band Writer · 2026-11-06

Stunning Rayguns began in Astoria, Oregon, in the summer of 2023. The duo of Ren Allen and Raymond Martin now has a first album: Novalunosis, a seven-track release whose layered sound reaches well beyond what “duo” might suggest.

KALA’s artist page identifies the pair and their setup: drums and vocals alongside guitar, synth and reverberated vocals. It describes experimental rock built from layered soundscapes. That foundation helps explain the scale of their recorded sound.

A concentrated recording session

Ken Stringfellow says the album was made in four days at his studio. The official release credits give him the complete studio shorthand: produced, engineered and mixed for Kenosis Music LLC at MARS & CIRCUIT MAKERS. Ed Brooks mastered it at Resonant Mastering in Seattle.

Stringfellow hears echoes of Sonic Youth, Breeders and My Bloody Valentine in their dense approach. Those reference points belong to his enthusiastic announcement. The official credits keep the writing with the duo: words and music by Stunning Rayguns.

The record

Released October 9, Novalunosis opens with “Programming” and “Wait in Wonder.” “Veins of Gold,” “Godspeed Racer,” “Still Alive at the End of the World,” “Electra” and “Turn It On” complete the seven-song collection.

For listeners drawn to tactile guitar music, synth layers and vocal atmosphere, the official release provides the music and complete studio credits. Hear Novalunosis on Bandcamp, or find it on Apple Music.

Astoria’s music community is the starting point here, not an invented U-Rock® airplay history. This is a new duo making a substantial opening statement with a producer who heard something worth capturing quickly.
