Transmissions From the Underground Hits AMEL-dB at 6 A.M. Eastern With a Heavy International Lineup

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA — Thursday morning gets heavy on the U-ROCK® Network as Transmissions From the Underground returns to AMEL-dB with another international run through stoner rock, doom, psychedelic rock, desert rock and the dirtier edges of heavy blues.

The Melbourne-based program, hosted by Chris, Christine and Michael, airs Thursday at 6:00 a.m. Eastern on AMEL-dB, bringing the Australian underground directly into the U-ROCK® Network while reaching well beyond Australia for the music.

That international approach has always been part of the program’s identity. Archived editions describe Transmissions From the Underground as a Melbourne-based showcase built around heavy blues, stoner rock and psychedelic rock, regularly pulling artists from across the world rather than staying inside one scene or country.

Tonight’s visible playlist puts that idea to work with Mother’s Cake, Lost Relics, Beware of Gods and Mother Wormhole.

Mother’s Cake — “TAKE IT EASY”

Austria’s Mother’s Cake arrives with one of the freshest tracks in the program. “TAKE IT EASY” was released September 11, making it barely a week old when it reaches Transmissions From the Underground.

Coming out of Innsbruck, Mother’s Cake has spent years refusing to stay neatly inside a single rock category. The band describes its sound as a collision of psychedelic rock, funk and progressive rock, while European venues have placed them somewhere in the territory between the exploratory side of The Mars Volta and the sheer physical force of classic Led Zeppelin.

Their catalog stretches back through Creations Finest, No Rhyme No Reason, Cyberfunk! and 2024’s Ultrabliss. Now “TAKE IT EASY,” along with the 2026 single “WE R ALL GONNA DIE,” shows the Austrian trio moving into another chapter rather than simply living off an established back catalog.

That makes Mother’s Cake exactly the sort of band Transmissions is built for: psychedelic enough to wander, progressive enough to surprise and heavy enough to matter.

Lost Relics — “Saint Catharines”

Denver’s Lost Relics may have the most perfectly timed appearance of the night.

“Saint Catharines” is part of the run-up to the band’s new five-track EP, Monuments to the Useless, scheduled for release September 25 through Golden Robot Records. The record includes “Trauma Soup,” “False Idols,” “Saint Catharines,” “Starve the Lies” and “Blueprint for Disaster.”

Formed in 2018, Lost Relics operate in the ugly intersection between sludge, noise rock, post-hardcore and what the band and its camp call “dirt rock.” Their current approach incorporates multiple vocalists over deliberately oppressive, slow-moving heaviness.

“Saint Catharines” carries that tension particularly well. Rather than chasing speed for its own sake, Lost Relics build pressure—heavy riffs, abrasion and a feeling that the entire thing could come apart at any moment.

The upcoming EP was recorded and mixed by Felipe Patino at Green Door Studios in Denver and mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins.

For listeners discovering Lost Relics through AMEL-dB, the timing couldn’t be much better. They’re catching the band immediately before a new release lands.

Beware of Gods — “Ocean of Teeth”

Then the show heads into considerably darker territory with Beware of Gods and “Ocean Of Teeth (Haunted By The Glimpse Of A White Light).”

Beware of Gods sits somewhere between cinematic doom, post-metal, industrial tension and science-fiction nightmare. The project is led by The Archetype, whose music uses characters, symbolism and an evolving dystopian story to turn personal experience into something much larger and stranger.

“Ocean of Teeth” appears on Upon Whom The Last Light Descends III: Behead The Oracle, released July 10, 2026. The album features The Archetype on vocals, guitars, bass and synth, along with Feederwire, drummer Kellii Scott and additional guitar work from Eric Plonka. It was engineered and mixed by Pete Grossmann and mastered by Brad Boatright at AudioSiege.

This isn’t doom concerned only with being slow and heavy. Beware of Gods builds atmosphere around the weight—synths, sound design, narrative and long-form composition—which makes “Ocean of Teeth” an especially good fit for a program willing to move beyond straightforward hard rock.

Mother Wormhole — “But Nobody’s There”

The visible playlist closes with French psychedelic project Mother Wormhole and “But Nobody’s There.”

Mother Wormhole comes from the more cosmic end of the underground. The project’s established catalog leans into psychedelic, space-rock and stoner territory, with releases including the self-titled Mother Wormhole, Temple of the Universe, Soul Healer, Under the Mask, Soul Asylum and 2023’s Star Rider Collection.

The early material alone tells you where this band likes to travel: songs such as “Keys of the Wormhole,” “Bermuda Triangle,” “Song From 2078,” “Is There Blues In Space?” and “Gates of Yesterday” are built around long-form psychedelic exploration rather than radio-length conventions.

“But Nobody’s There” is the selection listed on tonight’s Transmissions graphic, pulling Mother Wormhole back into the international underground-radio orbit and giving this week’s program another distinctly different shade of psychedelia.

Taken together, that’s what makes this edition work. Austria, Denver, the American doom underground and France all wind up meeting in Melbourne before being carried back across the U-ROCK® Network.

Listen to Transmissions From the Underground Thursday at 6:00 a.m. Eastern USA time on AMEL-dB, U-ROCK® Melbourne.
