Wednesday Opens the Vault for Bleeds Deluxe

Wednesday Revisit Bleeds With Expanded Deluxe Edition
Wednesday are returning to Bleeds one year later, expanding the acclaimed record with demos, alternate versions and a collection of remixes and reinterpretations from artists across the indie and experimental underground.
The Asheville, North Carolina band will release Bleeds Deluxe digitally on September 18 through Dead Oceans, marking the first anniversary of the original album. The expanded edition stretches Bleeds from its original 12 songs to 20 tracks.
The first new piece available is “June 2 (Early Version),” produced by Kenneth Blume. The recording offers another look inside the development of the Bleeds material, beginning in comparatively restrained territory before opening into the distorted guitar and noise that have become central to Wednesday's sound.
But Bleeds Deluxe isn't simply a collection of leftovers.
Wednesday handed pieces of the record to a notably varied group of artists, resulting in six new reinterpretations that pull the songs in different directions.
Andy Loebs remixes “Reality TV Argument Bleeds,” while Joe Harvey-Whyte takes on “The Way Love Goes.” DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ remixes “Elderberry Wine,” Avey Tare tackles “Carolina Murder Suicide,” Gouge Away reworks “Wasp,” and Fire-Toolz closes the expanded record with a remix of “Bitter Everyday.”
Also included is a demo of “Poison the Sound,” giving listeners another glimpse at the material surrounding the sessions and songwriting that ultimately produced Bleeds.

The deluxe release arrives while Wednesday remain firmly in motion beyond the studio. The band has dates scheduled through the fall, including South American appearances and shows supporting Tyler Childers before joining Mannequin Pussy for their co-headlining Bitch Cabal Tour, which begins October 30 in Asheville.
Rather than simply repackaging an album for its anniversary, Bleeds Deluxe gives listeners another route into the record — through unfinished versions, alternate approaches and other artists dismantling and rebuilding Wednesday's songs in their own musical language.
“June 2 (Early Version)” is available now.
